Hardware-Based VoIP Phones
In addition, many functions in an organization requires a common point of communication that everyone can use regardless of who happens to be around at that time. A receptionist in an office is a good example of this although they too are being replaced by IVR systems. However, this feature can be very important and can not be satisfied with any type of mobile communication system. As an "office phone", the landline is irreplaceable.
Ironically, a corded phone is much more suited to VoIP for a traditional PSTN call. This is due to modern systems VoIP voice HD used whenever possible. This means that communication will be clearer. However, a hardware VoIP phone will probably be designed so as to make maximum use of acoustics to take advantage of voice features high definition. All this implies that if a person gets used to use VoIP with a corded phone, soon spoiled by it.
While these phones have traditionally been more expensive than regular land lines, this trend is changing rapidly. Also, if you get VoIP service with a SIP provider that has a relationship with a manufacturer of hardware VoIP phone, you will be able to get discounted prices with the added benefit if any be able to configure, maintain and update themselves automatically. Overall, despite the continued expansion of mobile telephony, mobile hardware based VoIP still have a place in a traditional business.
